Ministry Biography of Rev. Brent A. Brown

Rev. Brent Andre Brown was born to Tyrone Mills and Lisa Brown in Baltimore, MD. At the age of 9, he gave his life to Christ at Sweet Hope Freewill Baptist Church under the leadership of Bishop Chilean McCoy Smith, Sr. Rev. Brown officially accepted his call to the Gospel Ministry in 2011 and began studying under the tutelage of his former pastor, the late Bishop Marilyn E. Bostic, Establishmentarian of Jesus of Nazareth Free Will Baptist Church. After Bishop Bostic’s transition, Rev. Brown continued his ministerial development under Pastor Charles A. Hall, Jr.

On November 23, 2013, Rev. Brown preached his initial sermon, titled "When Faith Fights Reality," marking the beginning of his preaching ministry. Walking closely with his predecessor, The Late Rev. Errol D. Gilliard, Sr. equipped Rev. Brown for ministry at Greater Harvest and beyond. Rev. Brown was appointed Executive Pastor of Greater Harvest Baptist Church in early 2016. Later that year, he was officially elected as the church’s fifth Senior Pastor in November 2016.

Under Rev. Brown’s leadership, Greater Harvest has experienced exponential growth spiritually and numerically. While Rev. Brown humbly acknowledges the church’s successes, he gives all glory to God for the many accomplishments that have been achieved.

A firm believer in 2 Timothy 2:15, Rev. Brown has invested in his formal education to better serve the body of Christ. Rev. Brown is a 2024 honors graduate of the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University, and the recipient of the Virginia Union University 2024 Alix B. James Community Service Award. Rev. Brown is also pursuing an Executive MBA with a concentration in Church Management at The Sydney Lewis School of Business.

Committed to continuous growth, Rev. Brown regularly attends conferences, clinics, and forums that deepen his knowledge of the Gospel and enhance his leadership at Greater Harvest. He is also a respected leader and strategy team member in BUILD (Baltimoreans United In Leadership Development) and consistently participates in initiatives to improve the well-being of Baltimore and vicinity.

Rev. Brown is blessed to be under the spiritual covering of Bishop Dwayne and Dr. Carla Debnam. He is the loving husband of Mrs. Shamyra Kiona Brown and the proud father of Miss Essence Imani Brown and Miss Bella Amia Brown.

Rev. Brown gives all glory and honor to God for the privilege of standing and preaching the life-changing message of Jesus Christ. He believes wholeheartedly that, “If Jesus be lifted up, Jesus will draw all men unto Him.”
